Crazy Wet route in Norfolk – Challenge – Dont Get Your Feet Wet!

It was meant to hit as many ford crossings on the way as possible, and if the byway/green lane was not on the way from one ford to another – it was skipped.

This route was created in a similar fashion like i was explaining in my guide about green lanes and how to create your own awesome adventure route. Even used some of the fords and lanes from this trip! (You can read more about it here).

Original route with 46 Fords

Also original Route was around 200 miles, that started at a town called Diss and ended in Cley on the Sea beach, however after following it a few times i have realised that on the dry season, the first 100 miles are fairly boring.

Updated Route

After some time I had this route re-done leaving just 123 miles of good stuff… It starts at ThreeWays Garage at Shipdham and ends in the same spot as before. Including a few more interesting lanes, fuel / food stops on the way too.

Starts:

ThreeWays Garage, Watton Rd, Shipdham, Thetford, IP25 7PF

52°37’36.3″N 0°53’01.8″E

52.626756, 0.883836

Ends:

Cley next the Sea

52°57’56.2″N 1°02’52.0″E

52.965602, 1.047779

Something to keep in mind

Some fords get very deep, and some not only deep but do have fairly high steps in and out of them, some are muddy and some don’t even have a clear exit point. So please explore the area, and do it at your own risk, if not sure – there are ways around it.

What concerns lanes  – it’s a good mixture of sandy, mudy and gravel tracks, most of them are Unclassified Country Roads, some can get a bit narrow.
