Painful day following awesome Trans Euro Trail

Long Story Short

Our plan was to follow the Trans Euro Trail for 4 or so days, starting in Peak District and head North, hopefully all the way to the end. However, my trip ended on the first day, way before i realised it was over… came off my bike on the Limestone way, btw this lane had me twice now. It did hurt a little bit but we kept going and after another 100 miles of trails, I had nother off that bent my rear brake lever… tried to fix it but it was still very high and painful to use.

What Ended our Trans Euro Trail trip

Night was closing in and foot started to hurt more not less… had an off around 11 oclock in the morning and only 8 oclock in the evening decided that it’s time to call it a day. Rode another 140miles home and the next day got a present from the hospital – x-ray showing 3 broken bones in my foot, walking boot, 2 crutches and estimated healing time of 3 to 6 weeks.

Tackling crazy lanes

Ignoring the fact that most of the day I was riding with a broken foot, it was a really nice day. Good weather, some nice trais with stunning views. One that I remember very well was Nab Side trail (See below for a video link). To me it felt very close to Horseshoe lane (aka: Bastard lane) in Wales, just not as muddy – fun going down, but tricky going uphill, lucky we were going down….
