Awesome Welsh Adventure! (515 Miles in a day!)

Picture: Exploring Wild Wild Wales!

We left early in the morning as we are located quite the distance from Wales itself. With no particular plan the aim was to get to the Snowdown and just explore the area. We got to the Snowdon but weather was a bit wet, and we decided to keep pushing forward. Somehow we managed to get to the Mentai Bridge even higher up North of the Wales, it might look not like much but from the Mentai Bridge viewpoint with a view to both bridges – it was stunning!

We realised that we are also not too far from the LanFairPG (full name of the town: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, and translated to English means: The Church Of The Mary in The Hollow Of the White Hazel Near The Fierce Whirlpool And The Church Of Tysilio By The Red Cave! ) – a town with one of the longest names in the World, no joke there!

From there again with no idea where to go, just a rough sense of direction – we followed the coastline and accidentally ended up on the A499 road towards Llanaelhaearn. I’m not even going to try to describe the beauty of the coastline!

One nice view after another and when we stopped we agreed that we should go back and visit a town called Trefor. Problem was that we passed it some time ago and we were on the other side of the Mynydd Gwaith! After a quick look on google maps we found a path that we thought would take us to Trefor, over the mountain on the zig-zag road over the mountain!

However it didn’t take long for us to realise that it’s nothing but a footpath, and we ended up visiting Nant Gwrtheyrn, which was built for miners, but now it is converted to a Welsh Language school!

There was one spot on the way there where we couldn’t leave without taking pictures, such a beautiful part of Wales!

We covered 515 miles that day, most of it on the motorway to get to Wales and back – and it was definitely worth it as it also reminded me again what a real adventure is!
