Yorkshire TET – For a Day

Idea was very simple, and it turned out to be a very pleasant day.

With only a few points marked on the map, water and sandwiches we left Cambridgeshire around 6 am so we could get to the meeting point in Skipton for 10am to meet the rest of the riders.

It was a long ride on a motorway, but sure it was very interesting too. Left 1st meeting point and it was sunny, halfway there it started raining, two thirds in we could barely see where we were going because of a thick fog!

The 1st marked spot on the map was kind of 2 in 1. Meeting point as well as Trans Euro Trail starting point – how convenient is that!

Most of the trails were super easy and doable on pretty much anything on any kind of tires – light gravel tracks and only a few that could turn a bit muddy on a wet season. Passed a couple of fords on the way – nothing too deep or serious, but still a good fun. Some very nice views on the way as expected, as well as a cheeky waterfall hidden in the bushes on the side of one of the trails too! Beautiful!

Yorkshire Dales for a day

We didn’t get to a town called Hawes by following TET as I assumed we would, but that’s ok. We went by the time and how we felt and not by miles that day, as well as we spent more time than usual enjoying views!

We left the TET only 11 miles from Hawes (on tarmac) as we were hungry a lot sooner than i planned so we skipped only a couple of lanes.

Stopped like planned at a local Fish and Chips shop called “The Chippie” – supposedly very famous among the riders around the area, and I don’t blame them as the food was nice, and all the tarmac road leading to it is stunning too! Including the B6255 (& B6479) that is supposed to be one of the best riding roads around the UK! And a bonus – Ribblehead viaduct!

Yorkshire Dales for a day

Perfect adventure riders day that was! Beautiful views, good company, good food, nice trails, nice tarmac roads, no accidents, and proven to be doable on anything by anyone!

Here is a nice video that one of the riders has made! Thank you very much for that!
