Enduristan Blizzard Saddle Bags – Owners Review

Here it comes.. another love it or hate it bit of equipment…

Just to be clear, I had them from new, for a couple of years, and those bags survived a few hard adventure trips with no major problems…

Happy Valley before it became not so Happy Valley… “Being Smahed by TET in Wales…”

First off, it really made sense to have panniers that are shaped like… like boots? Or boot overalls, i should say..  ergonomic and what not.. strong, definitely to some extent….

What did not make sense was the top 2 buckles, or the way two sides are connected, it really baffled me (and other users i have talked to) for some time.. not like it was impossible to connect them (like some said in the past) but it just was really clumsy way of adjusting it… something you probably don’t want to do very often…

Perhaps they did it so they could sell inner liners separately..  i don’t know…

Another thing that I noticed, that once packed with odd shaped stuff, all pannier changes shape to something weird, and it’s next to impossible to fill them up properly, unless it’s something soft, like clothes..  but to be honest, i have never packed that many clothes in the first place…

In the end of their life I finally learned how to pack them, it was literally packing everything that’s soft, including a tent without poles into them..  and anything that’s bulky – elsewhere (top bag for example).

Overall, they are made out of good strong material, easy to get into them, as well as easy to pack and the only downside I would say is… their stitching! Tthat’s what let me down after some time… and once side straps go, panniers are pretty much trash, and enduristan won’t sell just one side as a replacement (at least they didn’t when I asked them if they would…Shame on you Enduristan, made no sense to buy a whole thing when only half was needed, and so I didnt!)

One more thing, packing soft panniers with things that break or bend easily – a bad idea, on the other had, soft panniers are much safer if bike falls on you feet!
