I am a big fan of tools, not like a have a lot of them, but i do like to have what i need to get the job done. And to get the job done on the trail, you do need at least some tools.
Like any other bike i had, i allways looked around it and checked what nuts and bolts manufacturers used, so i could make my own tool kit for that bike.
Toolkit for the bike does not have to be big or contain a lot of tools, in fact – the smaller the better. However, it has to have enough to keep rider going, otherwise its just a dead weight no one needs.
I have checked most of the bolts and nuts on my AJP PR7, and here is what I have found:
AJP PR7 Nut and Bolt Sizes
- Rear axle 27mm socket/spanner;
- Rear/front disc 8mm socket/spanner;
- Rear sprocket 5mm allen key;
- Chain adjuster 13mm spanner;
- Rear brake banjo bolt 12mm socket/spanner;
- Rear brake pedal stop bolt 13mm spanner+socket;
- Rear brake pedal height adjustment 8mm spanners;
- Footpeg bolts 5mm allen key;
- Exhaust: clamp 8mm socket, bolts 13mm socket, clamps jubilee clamps 7mm socket, header bolts 8mm sockets;
- Swingarm bolt and nut 22mm socket;
- Side stand bolt 20 mm spanner, nut 21mm socket;
- Side stand and footpeg bracket 5mm allen key, 13mm long reach socket, 13mm spanner;
- Chain guide 4mm allen;
- Chain guide/shark fin 5mm allen key;
- Chain roller 2x 13mm spanners;
- Front axle pinch bolts 10mm socket;
- Suspension, mainly 19mm spanners and 10mm allen keys;
- Engine to bracket to frame 8mm allen keys and 13mm socket;
- Various Engine casings and bits 8mm socket;
- Gear shift lever 8mm spanner;
- Front axle 22mm;
- Fork stanchion guards 5mm allen key;
- Fork clamps 6mm allen;
- Fork top bolt 25mm socket;
- Handlebar clamp to triple tree 19mm socket;
- Handlebar clamps 6mm allen key;
- Steering stop bolts and nuts 13mm spanner;
- Headstock nut 32mm socket;
- Fuel filler t20 Torx various fairings and bits – 8mm and 10mm deep sockets and spanners;
- Subframe to frame 8mm allen key;

Judging by what i have found, the perfect toolkit for AJP PR7 should contain (in bold – most important):
4, 5, 6, 8, 10mm allen key
t20 Torx
7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 19, 21, 22, 32 Sockets
13 (2x), 19, 20, 22 or Socket), 25, 27 Spanner
Flat and Philips Screwdrivers
***That is not including spark plug tool, tire levers and such.. just the base!
